The 5th all-people candlelight rally
The fifth all-people action to oust Park Geun-hye from office was staged all at once in different parts of south Korea on Nov. 26 in the teeth of bitter cold.
More than 1.9 million people including workers, peasants and children took part in the action.
They chanted slogans “Arrest Park” and “Hang out the white flag” at the top of their throats.
They gathered in the Plaza of Gwanghwamun to have a full-dress meeting for the fifth all-people action.
The meeting with the attendance of 600 000 people was started and, in a split second, its scale increased to at least 1.5 million.
Seoul turned into a sea of candlelight and it was a mammoth civilian rally unprecedented in history.
Under the unified guidance of the People's Emergency Action to Bring Down Park Geun-hye regime, the participants expressed their towering hatred for Park by depicting a raging wave with their candlelight.
The speakers in the rally stressed that their candlelight are a light vivifying democracy that Park stamped and their hurrah are the order of people demanding her resignation. They continued that they would launch action with the people to the last in the face of unfair power.
They gave a shout of Park’s resignation for a minute after turning out the lights of candlelight, LED and hand-phones.
The people in their houses and workplaces joined in the action and all vehicles honked in demand of Park’s resignation.
The People's Emergency Action to Bring Down Park Geun-hye regime said that it was a magnificent view and they are speechless at the sight, adding that darkness cannot veil the truth.
At the end of the meeting, the participants started the second march to encircle Cheongwadae from eight routes.
They held a speech-making meeting denouncing the Park Geun-hye group for their crimes till the morning of Nov. 27.
Timed to coincide with the massive struggle in Seoul, candlelight vigils and demonstrations took place simultaneously with the attendance of 400 000 people in more than 100 different local areas.
Koreans overseas at fifty regions in twenty countries launched candlelight vigils in demand of resignation of Park Geun-hye.
