Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex




The Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, manufactures different sorts of railway transportation means.
Established in November Juche 34(1945), it produces modern electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, tramcars, rail buses and passenger cars.
Visiting it in August Juche 50(1961), President Kim Il Sung watched the first electric locomotive produced in the DPRK and named it “Pulgungi” (red flag).
Chairman Kim Jong Il gave on-site guidance to the complex in January Juche 91(2002) clarifying tasks and ways to produce modern transportation facilities in a larger quantity in conformity with the new century.
The respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, visiting the complex in July Juche104(2015), set forth tasks to produce more electric locomotives of a new generation equipped with the cutting edge technology and develop an underground electric car of our style within the shortest period of time.
He also stressed the need to further enhance the level of modernization of fittings of passenger coaches, paint them not only in correspondence with international standards, but in various manners for people to easily recognize the lines and uses of trains and improve its quality.
He called for introducing CNC and robots into production processes on a high level, normalizing the operation of the science and technique dissemination room, bringing into a fuller play the vitality of the studying-while-working education system and consolidating supply bases.
Under the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and the deep care of Marshal Kim Jong Un the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex has developed from a small freight car repair factory to a leading railway transportation means manufacturer.
Today the complex plays an important part in modernizing railway transport of the country.
It is striving to produce more traffic means that can contribute to the convenience to travelers and suit the prestige of a socialist civilized country.
