Let’s Launch More Vigorously an International Solidarity Movement
For the Independent and Peaceful
Reunification of Korea
Appeal to the World Progressive People
Who Love Peace and Advocate Independence and Justice.
This year is a year of great significance, which greets the 70th anniversary of the liberation
of Korea through her people’s heroic resistance.
Korea, liberated from
the Japanese brutal
colonial plunder and subjugation, was brisk with their seething enthusiasm for building a free country, rich and strong, where national sovereignty was fully exercised.
Although liberation gave them great joy and
happiness, but it was immediately subdued and frustrated by the division of
their country into north and
south, which the outside forces enforced on them. Since then a long period of
70 years has elapsed.
During this period,
the world has advanced far and the times undergone tremendous changes,
but the Korean
people have
not yet achieved their
country's reunification, and their
sufferings from it are growing from bad to worse with each day passing.
This tragedy they
have been subjected to cannot be construed as a given fate; it is really a
heart-breaking wound,
which cannot be overlooked indifferently by anyone, regardless of
where he lives on the globe, and if he treasures conscience and peace.
It is an obligation the times and history assigned to
the world progressive people, not to mention the entire Korean people, and
their unanimous aspiration, to put a period to Korea's division immediately, as
it should not be condoned and allowed any longer.
Already last December, we, who are struggling in
the Asia-Pacific region to support the Korean people in their just cause,
called for designating the “Solidarity Period for Supporting the Independent
and Peaceful Reunification of Korea” in the meaningful year of 2015 - the
period from June, which marks the 15th anniversary of historic June
15th Joint Declaration, to October, which marks the 35th
anniversary of presenting the proposal for founding a Democratic Federal Republic
of Koryo.
With a view to further expanding and strengthening
the international solidarity movement for Korea's reunification during this
period, we appeal to the progressive people all over the world:
1. To Organize an International Movement Actively
for Supporting Most Reasonable and Just Proposals Reunify Korea Independently
and Peacefully.
The three principles of Korea's reunification, the 10-point
Program of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation and the Proposal for Founding
the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo are the charters for reunification that
clearly show the fundamental principles and ways of Korea’s reunification.
These three charters are enjoying fervent support
and sympathy not only from all the Korean people in the north and the south, but
from the international community, as they are based on the historic lessons and
practical experiences the Korean people gained through their past long struggle
for national reunification and reflect the present realities and demand in a most
correct way.
Let’s extend full support to the Korean people in
their struggle to reunify the country on the basis of the three principles of
independence, peace and great national unity.
Let’s bring the broad masses of people to understand
that a most realistic way of realizing Korea's reunification is to form a
federal state, leaving intact the ideology and social systems in the north and the
south as they are, and thus turn out actively in a drive for the
materialization of federacy.
Let’s arouse public opinion extensively to prove justness
and vitality of the three charters through various means of publications, the
mass media and internet.
2. To Extend Firm Solidarity to the Korean people
in Their Struggle to Remove Danger of War, Ease
Tensions and Create Peaceful Environment on the Korean Peninsula.
Peaceful environment is a prerequisite for
reunification on the Korean peninsula.
As long as war exercises are being staged against
the other side and hostile policies pursued unilaterally, neither dialogue, nor
negotiation can be held on the basis of mutual trust, and accordingly neither peace
nor reunification of Korea be realized. It is a self-evident fact to everyone.
Let’s launch a mass drive positively for the cessation
of large-scale joint military exercises annually held by the U.S. and south
Korea, the key factor of the aggravation of tensions on the Korean peninsula.
Let’s organize various protest moves for nullifying
the anachronistic hostile policy of the U.S. against the DPR Korea, the main
obstacle to Korea’s reunification.
Let’s bring about international public opinion for
withdrawing the U.S. forces from south Korea and urging the U.S. to respond
affirmatively to the call for the durable peace mechanism on the Korean
peninsula.
Let’s create an atmosphere of rejecting all forms
of sanctions against the sovereignty of the DPR Korea and the “human rights”
rackets, that should serve only as an ignitor of another war.
Let’s struggle more dynamically to terminate the
U.S. provocative acts of another war in this year that marks the 65th
anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean war, observing “the Month of
Anti-U.S. Joint Struggle between June 25-July 27” meaningfully in this
connection.
Let’s stage a campaign urging the United Nations
and governments of all countries, to come out for the improvement of the
DPRK-U.S. relations.
3. To Conduct Many-Sided Activities Dedicated to
the Implementation of Joint Declarations Adopted by the North and South of
Korea.
The June 15 Joint Declaration and October 4 Declaration,
agreed upon by the North and the South at the summit meetings, are the great
reunification program of historic significance which pulled down all the
barriers of confrontation between the two sides and ushered in a new era of
reunification.
The agreed provisions in those declarations reflect
the firm will and desire of the Korean nation for reunification, peace and
prosperity, and their truthfulness and justness have been fully verified in
realities.
However, the present south Korean conservative
regime totally negated the historic declarations which brought about the heyday
of reconciliation and cooperation between the north and south of Korea, and is now
enforcing more outrageously anti-reunification policies of confrontation that incite
the mistrust and discord between the two sides.
Let’s take the occasions of their anniversary days
to organize energetically world-wide mass campaigns demanding the implementation
of the declarations.
Let’s denounce strongly all the attempts of separatist
forces to block the way of implementing the declarations and obliterate their
historical significance.
Let’s stage vigorous solidarity movements for supporting
the Korean people in their struggle to reunify the country under the ideal of “By
Our Nation Itself.”
Let’s build up an international public opinion against
the so-called “unification policy” of the south Korean authorities, which worsens
the north-south relations to the extreme and seeks confrontation and unification
of systems.
4. Let’s Unfold the Movement for Supporting the Independent
and Peaceful Reunification of Korea in an Organized Way and on a Global Scale,
with the Participation of Broader Masses of the People
The movement for support and encouragement
dedicated to Korea’s independent and peaceful reunification can display greater
strength when the world progressive people join their efforts as a united
force.
Let’s organize more committees for supporting Korea’s
reunification in all parts of the world.
Let’s expand the present committees for supporting Korea’s
reunification and other organizations for friendship and solidarity with the
Korean people in different countries, to be more powerful and influential ones,
by rallying wider range of people around themselves.
Let the progressive political parties and organizations
in all countries, and international NGOs, also dynamically unfold their
solidarity movement for the reunification cause of the Korean people.
Let the influential personalities and organizations
in the political and public circles, and the circles of academy, law, and the arts
and literature, join in the movement for Korea’s reunification with their
tangible actions.
World Peace Lovers Who Aspire after Independence
and Peace!
The struggle for extending support and
encouragement to the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea leads up
to the way of realizing the desire of the world progressive people to enjoy freedom
and equality, and justice and peace, that settle down permanently on the globe,
free from aggression and war.
The times and history closely follow what we are
doing, and billions of people the world over stand by us, that is, on the side of justice and conscience.
Firmly believing that the Korean people will surely
bring about the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea under the wise
leadership of Respected His Excellency Kim Jong Un, we are confident that all progressive
people across the world will extend full support and solidarity to the cause of
the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea, for the building of a new
world, free and prosperous, and the happiness of mankind.
