KCNA Commentary Accuses U.S. of Insulting Genuine Democracy

Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- Washington is busy using media to spread "U.S.-style democracy" all over the world.
An article posted on Global Research, a website of the Institute for Globalization of Canada, on March 11 termed the U.S. a sham democratic country that works hard to make "democracy of its style" prevail in the world by setting in motion media to deceive the popular masses and maintain dictatorship for the privileged class.
The U.S. has established and put under its control influential media to intensify censorship so that the truth behind the actions perpetrated by it such as the invasion of Iraq and the engineering of a coup in Ukraine may not be known to the public.
After singling out the ideological and cultural poisoning as one of the major channels for "spreading democracy", the U.S. has zealously used newspapers, magazines and other publications, internet, TV broadcasting services, economic exchange, etc. as levers for hyping "advantages of U.S.-style democracy."
Media of the U.S. and other Western countries have put under their control three fourths of the world internet infrastructure to monitor most of world-wide information exchanges. By dint of their economic potential and latest sci-tech superiority, they monopolized huge modern information means to give wide publicity to reactionary ideas and culture and misinformation to meet their demands and interests.
They are gagging those calling for justice, misleading the public opinion as they please, cooking up lies in a bid to embellish the unpopular capitalist society.
A particular mention should be made of the fact that they are further intensifying the reactionary propaganda by using information means in an effort to tarnish the image of the countries calling for independence against imperialism and contain their rivals.
The primary goal of their news service is to attain ulterior purposes by shocking and confusing the mentality and psychology of peoples of those countries, instead of informing them of truth.
By intensifying smear campaigns, they toppled the government of Saddam Hussein who was the legitimate president of Iraq, a sovereign state, and the one of Gaddafi of Libya. They are running the whole gamut of false propagandas in a bid to do harm to such anti-imperialist independent countries as the DPRK, Cuba, Iran and Venezuela.
They incited the anti-government forces in Syria and Ukraine to spark off civil wars and cause serious humanitarian crises.
Now "U.S.-style democracy" has become a source of trouble that causes political chaos, disputes and wars in various parts of the world.
The U.S. noisy call for "democracy" is a mockery of genuine democracy and an unpardonable challenge and insult to humankind. -0-
