Regarding
the latest lurid allegations against the DPRK which are being carried
enthusiastically by some of the worst right wing sections of the
imperialist media i.e Fox News , Daily Mail etc , firstly the DPRK has
one tv channel the Mansudae channel which shows foreign films . When I
was in the DPRK in the 1990s I remember watching an Indian film about
gangsters and also the famous Soviet film "TASS
Is Authorised to Announce" . Secondly, the DPRK has an international
film festival which shows many non DPRK. I remember in 2008 a Korean
lady professor from the Korean Association of Social Scientists asked me
a lot of questions about the British film " Elizabeth the Golden Age ".
Also the British film " Bend it like Beckham " was shown in the DPRK in
2010. The main hotels in the DPRK have CNN, BBC , Chinese and Russian
television available.
Needless to say the source
for this rubbish is a south Korean newspaper who have recycled the story
from a "defector" . Having met a so-called "defector" at the UK KFA
picket of the south Korean puppet embassy I would not believe a word of
what they say , indeed some of these people are not from the DPRK at
all.
By the way UK KFA has furthered cultural exchange between the
UK and DPRK by donating a number of films such as "Bloody Sunday " , "
Battle of Britain " and some "On the Buses Films " .
