The First Field Guidance

In the bitter days of national mourning respected Kim Jong Un, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea, assumed the supreme commandership of the Korean People’s Army according to the will of leader Kim Jong Il dated October 8, 2011 reflecting the unanimous desire of the Korean people.

As the Supreme Commander of KPA Kim Jong Un gave his first field guidance in the New Year to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Guards Tank Division of the Korean People’s Army on January 1, 2012.

After receiving a salute he, kindly taking the hands of the commanding officers, said that he wished to see soldiers who would be in tears after the loss of Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong Un said: This morning I offered New Year greetings to leader Kim Jong Il in the Kumsusan Memorial Palace, where I heard him urge me to go to the 105 Guards Tank Division. So, I have come here. The mere name of this division makes me feel his temperature and trait.

Kim Jong Il had started his Songun revolutionary leadership by inspecting the division on August 25, 1960. His last visit to the division was made in the last period of his life.

Kim Jong Un’s visit reminded the soldiers of the benevolent leader Kim Jong Il 17 years ago who had made his first field guidance of the new year to a KPA unit.

On the 1995 New Year Day after President Kim Il Sung passed away Kim Jong Il visited the Tabaksol company, declaring his political decision to bolster up the People’s Army and rely on it.

Mentioning it, a western publication said:

“Early in January General Kim Jong Il, the successor to President Kim Il Sung visited an army unit, giving up his New Year address.

It is very meaningful. Usually, a newly inaugurated leader’s first program of political activity decides his ensuing political course and fixes the political force for him to rely on. In this view we should wait and see for what he inspected the unit.”

Since then his inspection of army units continued without let-up, showing to the world public that the Songun politics directs its main force to bolstering up the People’s Army.

From the beginning of the New Year Kim Jong Il visited People’s Army units almost every day throughout the year, lodging and boarding on the train. In this way he worked day and night devotedly.

Kim Jong Il regarded it as a great joy to visit soldiers and all the officers and men of the People’s Army considered it the greatest honor to see him.

In the course of it the bonds of kinship were formed between the Supreme Commander and soldiers and the fighting efficiency of the army rapidly grew stronger.

The KPA Supreme Commander Kim Jong Un presents precisely the same image as leader Kim Jong Il, who took the road of Songun saying “Don’t expect any change from me”.

Kim Jong Un’s visit to an army unit is a speechless declaration to build a thriving nation with the might of Songun true to the will of Kim Jong Il.
